I’ll love you forever

Dearest Dallen,

Today we built a fort. While we were playing inside and you were smiling and laughing with me, I couldn’t help but think there will soon come a day when you will build a fort where there are “no girls allowed”. Then my mind drifted off to the day, probably amongst your teenage years, when you will be mean to me and think that you hate me. Then I pictured one of the proudest days of my life, when you will decide that you love the Lord more than me and leave me in His service. Next, I thought about the young woman you might meet that will steal your heart away from mine, someone worthy for you to love enough to leave me again. Finally, my thoughts arrived at the proudest day of your life when you will learn how much I love you and why I, like Robert Munsch, can say “I'll love you forever, I'll like you for always, as long as I'm living my baby you'll be.”

Love, Mommy

My thoughts exactly! You're such a sweet Mom! Aren't forts fun with little boys inside? Your eyes look so blue in that picture...maybe your next little one will have your color eyes, or not! I think brown is the dominant trait! But I love brown eyed babies that look just like junior mints! :)

Oh, Jacki, that was so precious! I do hope you are keeping a book! You can get these published, you know -- but in your case, it would be very, very expensive! Keep on writing, though. These are so great.

I found your blog! Sooo cute - you do such a great job taking pictures of all these cute events. I know what you mean, sometimes my thoughts just wander into the future and I find myself just hoping he will be a nice boy when he's all grown up!
